In many cases, brutalities require a certain situation. Some of the situations vary between distance from the opponent, a certain number of moves performed in the match, or a sequence of buttons being pressed or held. When these requirements are met in the match, the last hit performed will trigger a brutality. Since many brutality situations vary, it can be challenging to discover these rare fight finishes.

The newest brutality from the Joker utilizes his forward throw, in which he brings out his extend-o boxing gloves to hit his opponent down, then targets their groin for three additional punches. If the throw is done during a fatal blow cooldown, it is instead turned into a crushing blow, which graphically depicts the damage to the groin. However, when the newest brutality is activated, instead of falling to the ground, the opponent falls into a wheelchair. The Joker then turns them around, pulls out his large knife, and slits their throat as they struggle in the wheelchair. Like many of the MK11 finishes, this brutality is not for the faint of heart. Blood spurts from the opponent’s throat as they go limp as Joker celebrates his victory.
It isn’t known how the brutality is activated apart from the forward throw. The Joker has another brutality that is activated using his backward throw, but the buttons must be pressed repeatedly. It is possible that the same sequence could apply to Deep Cuts, however, it may require an additional requirement to activate. Since his introduction as a playable character, the Joker’s throws have been bugged, making it difficult to use both his back and forward throws. According to the Reddit user who posted the brutality, it is not available yet for any console players. Since both PC and console patch notes from January indicate there are new brutalities, Deep Cuts may be included in a new patch for MK11 that may address the Joker throw problems.
Even with the throw bug, Joker is an effective character to use competitively. His special moves are not only hilarious, but can be strung together in unpredictable ways to give him the upper hand. With a brand new brutality utilizing a forward throw, the Joker is set to surprise even more players with a cutthroat finish.
Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
