When the Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath expansion launches on May 26, it will coincide with a free update that all MK11 owners can try. This will include the Klassic Dead Pool and Soul Chamber stages, Stage Fatalities, and the “Friendship” Fatality variant. As some may recall, Friendships in Mortal Kombat 11 let players end a fight by doing something nice for their opponent, as opposed to the usual method of brutally dismembering them in an over-the-top fashion.

So far, NetherRealm has given fans a look at two different Mortal Kombat 11 Friendships. At the end of the Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath announcement trailer, fans can see Scorpion perform a Friendship maneuver, pulling in a giant teddy bear with his grappling hook and hugging it. Elsewhere, a screenshot of Kano grilling food, complete with a chef’s hat, shows a different Friendship players will be able to perform in the game.

It will be interesting to see just how many Friendship moves are added to Mortal Kombat 11 come the big May 26 update. It’s possible that there will just be a handful in the game, though it’s also possible that each character will have their own unique Friendship move. Fans also have to hang tight and learn how exactly the Friendship moves are performed, as they will require different button combinations than the Fatalities.

While there will be some worthwhile content added to Mortal Kombat 11 for free on May 26, those that purchase the Aftermath DLC will get their hands on some new story content along with three brand new DLC characters. The new Mortal Kombat 11 DLC characters coming to the game as part of the Aftermath expansion are Fujin, Sheeva, and guest fighter RoboCop. It remains to be seen if any of these characters will be able to perform Friendships, however.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
