Specifically, Campbell has taken to Twitter with a brief message and an accompanying, text-heavy image. The humorous image makes one point very clearly, as the text included within states the following: “According to Bruce Campbell himself, Evil Dead’s Ash will not be appearing in Mortal Kombat 11.”

Certainly, this statement is extremely direct in its message, and it seems hard to misinterpret its meaning. Unless Campbell is simply trying to get fans off the scent through misdirection, it definitely appears that Ash is not coming as a Mortal Kombat 11 DLC character.

Furthermore, this de-confirmation of Ash throws additional doubt on the validity of the aforementioned MK11 DLC leak. Aside from Ash, this leak contained supposed Mortal Kombat 11 DLC fighters like the Joker, the Terminator, and Spawn, and Campbell’s tweet means that these characters also need to be considered with even more skepticism.

That said, it is possible that Ash was, at one point, planned to be one of the MK11 DLC fighters, and his inclusion simply did not materialize. As such, the other characters in the leak cannot be fully discounted at this time.

It is also worth noting that, in early March, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa indicated, on Twitter, that he would not be assuming the role of Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat 11. Later that month, this statement was proven false, as it was officially announced that the actor would, in fact, be lending his voice and likeness to the first Mortal Kombat 11 DLC fighter.

Thus, it is possible that a similar situation could occur here, and Ash may still end up as a DLC character in Mortal Kombat 11. However, at this time, it certainly seems that fans should not count on it.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
