In a post on Twitter, Ed Boon uploaded an image of Michael O’Brien, the actor behind Stryker in Mortal Kombat 3, in the character’s attire. The post, which has begun to generate a healthy dose of speculation among Mortal Kombat 11’s fanbase, featured the caption “Stryker Pose…”. It could, of course, be yet another instance of Boon just messing with fans, or it could be a legitimate hint for the character’s addition to the game. After all, there will almost certainly be a Kombat Pack 2 for MK11.

It’s interesting that Boon chose now to begin teasing a character, if Stryker does wind up being added. NetherRealm only just revealed footage of The Joker in Mortal Kombat 11, and there’s been very little seen of Spawn besides some renders. That being said, it’s a good way to get fans on board with the idea of more characters being added to the game over the course of 2020. Plus, who doesn’t like more options in a fighting games roster?

Stryker is, however, an interesting choice for a DLC character. There are endless possibilities for characters to be added, and Stryker has always had something of a mixed reception in the franchise. His design is pretty similar to that of Cassie Cage and Sonya Blade, and his move set presumably would be too. That being said, it certainly isn’t the worst possible option out there. It would be cool to see a more obscure character like Meat get their moment in the sun, but fans have to take what they can get. Mortal Kombat 11 will be updated for years to come according to Boon, so there’s plenty of time for new additions.

It’s hard to tell which other characters will be added to the game in the future. There are plenty of possibilities, and that makes it all the more difficult to accurately predict. So far, though, all the character DLC has been stellar, with the recent addition of Sindel being pretty entertaining, even if there are some weird rules about the character.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
