With the purchase of the Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat pack, buyers were guaranteed 6 themed skin packs. While NetherRealm hasn’t gone against that advertised detail, many Kombat Pack buyers believed the deal included all upcoming skin packs for the duration of the Kombat Pack’s lifespan. However, that’s clearly not accurate. The fact that the Halloween DLC skin pack, of all skin packs, isn’t included is frustrating some players.

A thread on Reddit is allowing some Kombat Pack purchasers to vent their frustrations. GhostOfMuttonPast says how frustrating it is to pay $40 for a Kombat Pack and yet “we still have more DLC packs.” Another user points out that Mortal Kombat 10 had a similar DLC structure, to which Ghost adds, “It was frustrating then, and it’s frustrating now.” mkdfan posted an interesting comparison, noting that they bought the Ultimate Edition of Injustice 2 and never had to “pay another penny” for gear or skins again. Punkstyler says plainly that “This is bull****.”

There’s unfortunately, no recourse for Kombat Pack owners. They’ll certainly receive the 6 skin packs as part of the Kombat Pack, but those packs will be different than the Masquerade Pack, and likely other skin packs sold separately. At best, they can take the awareness of 2K’s DLC and microtransaction practices forward and take them into consideration for their next game.

While $40 is a relatively high price compared to other games’ Season Passes or Deluxe Edition content, the Kombat Pack does offer a solid selection for Mortal Kombat 11. The Kombat Pack includes 6 DLC characters like Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, and The Terminator, with Sindel, Joker, and Spawn to come. Kombat Pack owners also get 1-week early access to these characters as well as skins and gear for each.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
