Mortal Kombat 11 will reportedly have 13 DLC characters, according to a datamine by Twitter user NWPlayer123. It’s unclear if that includes Shao Kahn since he is a pre-order bonus, but if it does, that means there are at least 11 DLC fighters that have yet to be revealed for the upcoming fighting game. A more likely scenario is that Shao Kahn is not counted in the game’s official DLC lineup, and after Shang Tsung, there will be 12 DLC characters released in waves of three or four at a time, like past NetherRealm games.
There is no official confirmation from NetherRealm or Warner Bros. about the number of DLC characters in Mortal Kombat 11 (the first Kombat Pack/season pass will add six), so fans should take this information with a grain of salt. However, this number would match what game director Ed Boon has said about Mortal Kombat 11 DLC characters in the past. In a rapid-fire interview with Game Informer, where he also revealed Neo from The Matrix, was considered for Injustice 2, Boon indicated there would be over 30 characters in the game once all the DLC has been released.
Now the question remains who these Mortal Kombat 11 DLC characters could be. It seems likely that at least some of them will be special guest characters, but nothing has been announced so far by NetherRealm. One possible guest character for Mortal Kombat 11 is comic book character Spawn, who has been teased in the past, but beyond that, we have no idea who could possibly be coming to the game’s lineup of DLC characters.
While we don’t know any of the Mortal Kombat 11 DLC fighters, we do know at least one character who definitely won’t be in the game, and that is Scooby-Doo’s Shaggy. Despite a petition to add Shaggy to Mortal Kombat 11 amassing hundreds of thousands of signatures, NetherRealm has said that the character has no chance of being in the game.
More information on the Mortal Kombat 11 DLC characters should come to light in the next two weeks as we near the game’s release.
Mortal Kombat 11 launches on April 23 for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
