Coinciding with the Mortal Kombat 11 livestream today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released a preview of the game’s Kollector’s Edition on Twitter. In it, you will find the obligatory Steelbook case, a collector’s box, and an honest-t0-goodness life-size Scorpion mask. While it has not been specifically stated, it is assumed it can be worn. If not, it would mean a huge missed opportunity.
Scorpion has been around since day one of Mortal Kombat, and probably has the most recognizable catchphrase in the entire series, so Warner Bros. is playing pretty hard to the nostalgia of longtime fans. But it is hard to deny that the mask is enticing. So enticing it practically screams, “Get over here and buy me!”
If you have got the $300 to shell out, you might want to give in to its call. If it helps, the price also includes a Kombat Pass, which includes six new DLC characters. The Kollector’s Edition will come out the same day as the standard game, in late April.
Pre-order information was not the only thing to be revealed today, as a special Mortal Kombat 11 livestream gave audiences its first look at gameplay. Those tuning in got to see many new and returning characters duking it out, with all the typical, over-the-top violence fans have come to expect. We also know a lot more about the story through a cinematic story trailer that shows a much darker Raiden, as well as the Kronika, the Keeper of Time.
Those just looking to see how it plays should check out the official gameplay trailer; it highlights some of the special moves players will get to unleash, as well a preview of one particularly gory Fatality by newcomer Skarlet.
Mortal Kombat 11 releases April 23, 2019 for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
