When facing the new character Kollector in Mortal Kombat 11, Shao Kahn states: “Let us make Outworld great again.” This echoes the President’s 2016 campaign slogan: “Make America Great Again.” And since this reference was discovered, it has been making the rounds on the internet.

For context, it’s worth mentioning that Shao Kahn has lost control of Outworld by the time of Mortal Kombat 11. Mileena, a character many are upset isn’t in MK11, lost the throne of Outworld to Kotal Kahn during the events of Mortal Kombat X, leaving Shao Kahn incredibly displeased. This displeasure is what leads to the aforementioned scene between Shao Kahn and the Kollector and the line.

Notably, this isn’t the first game to use the “Make America Great Again” slogan as an allusion to the President. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey also has a Donald Trump Easter egg, as it uses his slogan in reference to Athens.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now, and while it has received criticisms for a lengthy grind, the general consensus is that MK11 is a worthwhile entry in the long-running fighting franchise. This sentiment may very well remain strong as the latest data mine suggests that 19 DLC characters could be arriving in the coming months.

Mortal Kombat 11 is currently available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
