There are quite a few gory match-ending moves on display, with the likes of Baraka, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, and more showing what it will be like to utterly decimate one’s opponent in Mortal Kombat 11. For instance, Baraka literally rips Scorpion’s face off, MK9 favorite Skarlet uses Raiden’s own blood to fashion a scythe and kill him, and Sonya Blade shoots Baraka into a set of whirling helicopter blades using wrist-mounted machine guns.
Beyond the ability to enact these incredibly grisly death scenes, Mortal Kombat 11 will also allow players to customize the game’s fighters with an in-depth gear system that should facilitate the creation of a wide swathe of unique variations for fighters. While the details are still relatively scant at the moment, what NetherRealm showed during the Kommunity Reveal event indicates that the feature has taken cues from its previous title, Injustice 2.
Taking everything here into consideration, it definitely looks as if NetherRealm Studios is preparing to give the Mortal Kombat community a decidedly rich experience with the eleventh entry of the long-running fighting game franchise. Of course, there’s still a ways to go before MK11 actually releases, so hopefully NetherRealm will give gamers a taste of what’s to come by putting out a demo of the title before they commit to making a purchase.
Mortal Kombat 11 is scheduled to release on April 23, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
