Shang Tsung fighting style sees him transform into other characters on the roster mid-battle, and so it’s fitting that one of his Fatalities also uses another character from Mortal Kombat lore. The character in question is Kintaro, who has usually been featured as a sub-boss in the games instead of a playable character.

Shang Tsung’s Mortal Kombat 11 fatality sees him throwing a soul ball at his enemy, with the ball bursting through their torso and manifesting itself inside of them. In the Shang Tsung trailer released by NetherRealm, he uses his fatality on Raiden, and we see Kintaro spawn inside of his body, ripping it to pieces in absolutely devastating fashion.

Some fans may think that Kintaro’s appearance in Shang Tsung’s fatality is a hint that he himself could be DLC for the game down the road. At the time of this writing, there are only three other DLC characters confirmed for Mortal Kombat 11 in Kombat Pack 1 besides Shang Tsung, and they are Nightwolf, Sindel, and Spawn. Two more guest fighters are also expected to be featured in Kombat Pack 1, and Kintaro wouldn’t fall into that category.

However, it’s likely that NetherRealm will release more Kombat Packs for Mortal Kombat 11 that will add even more characters to the lineup. Other rumored fighters include The Joker from DC Comics as well as The Terminator and Evil Dead’s Ash Williams, but there should be plenty of Mortal Kombat originals in the lineup as well. Whether or not Kintaro will be one of them remains to be seen, however.

Fans can expect to learn more about Mortal Kombat 11’s future DLC fighters in the coming months.
