Spawn is just one chapter, however, in the greater scheme of Mortal Kombat 11. Even though it goes unconfirmed at this time, many expect a Kombat Pack 2 to follow this game, with several rumors corroborating this idea. That said, the Spawn gameplay trailer puts one of these to rest.

Spawn’s Gameplay Trailer
First, it’s worth checking out the official Spawn gameplay trailer. Mortal Kombat 11 clearly intended to end the Kombat Pack with a bang and even saved the best for last. Many didn’t think that Spawn would be worth the wait, but that’s seemingly untrue; while his role in the overall meta remains to be seen, design and style go a far way with such an anti-hero.
Namely, however, the end of the MK11 trailer is worth paying attention to. It shows Jacqui Briggs’ Spawn skin, the Matinee Pack, and reiterated the date of release, but one major rumor indicated there would be more there at the end. Without it, that rumor is effectively dead in the water.
Kombat Pack 2 Rumors
Right now, there are really 3 big rumors about Mortal Kombat 11 floating around there, with 2 of those appearing relatively recently. The first is the grandfather of all rumors, as it holds the most weight of them all. It appeared early on in the Kombat Pack marketing cycle, accurately detailing every Mortal Kombat 11 DLC character that has released to date…and then some. According to this leak, Sheeva, Ash Williams, and Fujin are all currently on the doc, likely set up to be part of Kombat Pack 2.
Essentially, not including these characters invalidates any new Mortal Kombat 11 rumor that reared its head, so the following two could have simply been good guess work based on it. One claims that there will be 6 characters joining in the next Kombat Pack, consisting partially of the aforementioned characters, Halloween’s Michael Myers, and a few others. Admittedly, this MK11 rumor seems too good to be true, but there’s not much to the contrary.
On the other hand, the latest Spawn trailer has disproven the second rumor. It claimed that there would only be 4 characters joining, with it composed of Sheeva, Ash Williams, Fujin, and Havik. There were some other claims as well, but basically, it said that Kombat Pack 2 would be teased as part of Spawn’s trailer by having silhouettes of the characters appear at the end. As seen above, that’s not the case, meaning this rumor can join the plethora of those filed under fake.
Rumors are always going to be a thing in the gaming industry, especially for something as big as Mortal Kombat 11, so it’s always advisable to take everything with a major grain of salt. While it seems like a safe bet that Sheeva, Ash Williams, and Fujin will appear in the coming months, perhaps attention is best paid to the latest character, Spawn.
Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One. Spawn releases in early access on March 17, with a full release on March 24.
