The new mod is called “The Old Realms” and is a fan project being developed for Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord. It is set during the time of Karl Franz’s ascent to the throne of the Empire of Man. The mod team stated that the goal of the mod is to capture as much of the grimdark fantasy world of Warhammer as possible, while retaining the overall gameplay aspects of Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord.

In the new mod, players will have the opportunity to fight alongside or against famous Warhammer figures, such as the aforementioned human ruler Karl Franz and the Ork warlord Grimgor Ironhide. Players will be able to explore famous locations from the fantasy Warhammer world, including Karaz-A-Karak and Castle Drakenhof. They will also have access to various Warhammer-related features, but the features are subject to change based on development.

This isn’t the first time that the game received a mod based on a popular franchise. There is a Game of Thrones mod in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord that mixes the game with the popular fantasy show’s setting. The mod is called Realm of Thrones and was made by YouTuber Carolina Warlord Gaming. It allows fans to explore the fantastical world of Westeros in Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord.

According to the mod’s website, the fan team plans to release The Old Realms in several stages, with the first including factions such as the Empire of Man, the Vampire Counts, and the Dwarves. The team plans to add as many of the other factions and famous locations in the mod as possible. While also making sure everything in the mod is accurate to the established lore of the fantasy Warhammer setting. The beta for The Old Realms was recently released on the mod’s Discord and is currently available for players to experience, but it requires the Bannerlord Harmony mod to run.

Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord is available on PC.
