Lenovo-owned Motorola’s invites come in the form of a GIF (via CNET) that is surely a folding phone but is also a bit hideous and could be a close up shot from Alien. It will be held in LA on 13 November and will include the “highly anticipated unveiling of a reinvented icon.” It gives the game away more by saying “You’re going to flip”, too. We reported in August that the phone could turn out to be a a pricey mid-ranger but with the foldable tech on board, it is more likely to have mid-range specs but a high-end price tag – hopefully the two will balance out and make the Razr flip foldable less expensive than the £2,000 Galaxy Fold....

Moto E5 Plus: Price and availability Confusing things a little is the fact that the Moto G6 Play (the cheapest in the G range) is £169 which isn’t much more. In the US, the phone costs $179 and you can buy it from the likes of Sprint, Cricket and T-Mobile....

Audiophiles will appreciate the attention to detail Moshi provides, with a rich, full-bodied sound producing satisfying music and clear vocals. The padded ear cups and headband means they are comfortable even when wearing for long periods, but this is offset by a few notable impracticalities. Price & Availability They therefore undercut wireless cans such as the Beats Solo 3 Wireless, yet are significantly more expensive than more simplistic headphones such as the Beats EP....

Where other companies have failed, Motorola has been sticking with a modular phone with the Z range. The Moto Mods mean you can quickly snap on additions like a speaker, additional battery or even a projector. This time it will make the phone 5G compatible. The Moto Z3, for now at least, is only available in the US and it has a release date of 16 August in the US....

Update 31 August: Even though the Moto Z isn’t yet on sale in the UK, Motorola has announced a new member of the family: the Moto Z Play. This is a cheaper version with a headphone jack, and it will cost £369.99 in the UK. Alongside the launch at IFA in Berlin, Motorola also unveiled the latest Moto Mod, the £199.99 Hasselblad True Zoom. This is an optical zoom camera which attaches to the Moto Z series with strong magnets....

As reported (opens in new tab) by the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), total mortgage applications were up by just 0.6% for the week ending October 25, while refinancing was down 1% during the same period. Although still markedly lower than they were this time last year, average contract interest rates for 30-year fixed rate mortgages with conforming loan balances ($484,350 or less) jumped to 4.05% from 4.02%. Thirty-year fixed rate mortgages backed by the FHA also got pricier, with interest percentages rising from 3....

According to the latest data (opens in new tab) from Freddie Mac, the interest rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 2.98% last week, a reduction of 0.05 percentage points on a week earlier and a staggering 0.83 percentage points lower than a year ago. The rate is also the lowest recorded since the lender began tracking rates 50 years’ ago. Could mortgage rates drop even lower?
